Dear friends,
Easter is a very different celebration to Christmas, instead of the generally happy mood of Christmas, Easter has space for a wide range of emotions. There are times of celebration, but also times of pain and loss, there is anger in the Temple when Jesus overthrows the tables of cheating stall holders, there is confusion and fear amongst the disciples.
Easter much more than any of the other festivals of the church has a space for all of us whatever mood or situation we are in. Holy Week is a rollarcoaster ride, and even with the good news of Easter Sunday - of resurrection and new life - there is pain and confusion about what this all means, what does the future hold?
As Easter arrives this year, and in the Easter season that follows it, I pray that we can all know ourselves not to be alone with our emotions but find the Risen Jesus somehow in the midst of our locked rooms offering peace and hope.
